I have read in the Asthma magazine a report to an asthmatic middle age man, he said that a lot of men and women do not know the distinction in between getting out of breath and asthma attack, can anybody clarify? I feel that gasping for air is like asthma attack or is not? Thanks for answers.

You will have a reason for becoming out of puff, ie. physical exercise. An asthma attack is brought on by the illness and can come on at any time

Physical exercise related gasping is just the bodies response to your cells required far more oxygen than your lungs are at present offering. This will soon pass as you stop exercising. In a full blown asthma attack the small air passages (bronchioles) turn into constricted and it is tough to get air in or out of your lungs. These people do gasp, but it doesn’t stop until the bronchioles relax with medicines (either inhaled or steroids) Or, in worst case scenario the individual will be intubated and have a machine do the work for them. So to answer your question, it is entirely diverse.

i have been an asmathic myself so i can tell from experience is that an asthma attack comes with all sorts of things different people different allergies something triggers it even when doing nothing and most of the time wheezing is present whereas out of puff is exercising or feeling anxious . or we say how many puffs to take with using an inhaler
